Overlooking Sarasota bay, this new 3,600 square foot residence is located on Lido Key in Sarasota, Florida.  Designed for a couple that spends extensive time outdoors, the home is designed to capture views, and weaves around a succession of outdoor tropical gardens allowing for a true indoor- outdoor lifestyle.  The design for this project is inspired by the distinctive site which sits on Sarasota Bay to the south and abuts a nature preserve to the east.

A detached garage is sited to act as a buffer from a busy road to the north and has a simple tailored form that harkens back to the Sarasota School of Architecture homes that populate Lido Key in the 1950’s and 60’s.  The home features a soaring butterfly roof with extensive clerestory windows to capture natural daylight. The house features a rich palette of warm natural finishes.
